Ulcerative colitis did change my life. But perhaps not in the way the doctor meant.

This is an excerpt from my upcoming memoir, “A Slice of Orange.” It will be published in 2023 by Touchpoint Press. I don’t think my life has been very normal – but not because of my ulcerative colitis. Sometimes a difficult diagnosis (such as inflammatory bowel disease) gives us the strength to fight against it defining our lives. Some of my efforts were successful, others, not so much.
